The Vision Quest is an ancient rite of passage ceremony, enabling men, women and youth to engage in an age-old ceremonial pattern: completion of an old life, movement through the threshold of the unknown, and return to the world reborn. People in any life stage or transition will find meaning in this powerful process.
This is a nine-day program, with three days of preparation, three days of solo time, and three days to incorporate the teachings of the journey. Tuition includes all back country fees and food, and follow-up contacts after the program ends. Read more about the Vision Quest.
Our workshops, in the same spirit as the nine-day Vision Quest, provide an opportunity to enter the natural world for healing, reflection and renewal. You don't have to travel far to take advantage of the beauty and mystery of the wild. The rustling of the wind, the sound of your footsteps on the rough earth, the sunlight filtering through the trees--all these can help you recognize where you've been and where you need to go, reconnecting with your deepest truths.
...the world offers itself to your imagination, calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting--over and over announcing your place in the family of things.
These programs vary in length from one to five days, and are held at parks or recreational areas in diverse locations.
Learn about rites of passage in nature, utilizing practices and tools derived from native and non-native teachers and teachings, spiritual pathways, ecopsychology, and wilderness experience. This work will appeal to those in the helping professions, those who wish to bring spirituality, ceremony and the presence of nature into their work, and those who wish to follow these teachings more deeply into their own healing. In recent years, our work has expanded to include important questions of leadership. What does leadership mean in a world that is becoming increasingly interconnected and interdependent? How does the natural world play a part in the questions and challenges of leadership? How can I discover, confirm and give from my deepest gifts, nourishing not just myself, but the widening circles of community to which I belong?
